Letter from KYANA Blues Society President Rocky Adcock-Amaretto

Greetings, Blues Fans:

The KYANA Blues Society is into its first full year of operation and we are very excited about some upcoming events. The Society has already co-sponsored several successful concerts this year: L.A. blues guitarist Phillip Walker, blues harpist (harmonica) William Clark, also from L.A., and H-Bomb Ferguson, down from Cincy. But here's some upcoming events: The Society is planning a blues talent contest in April. The winner of this event will go to Memphis to participate in the finals. The gold ring? A recording contract. More details on this later.

The Society will also sponsor and coordinate the Garvin Gate Blues Festival again this year. This will be free and open to the public, as it was in 1988. And, there will be more.

I'd like to invite all of you who are interested in the preservation and perpetuation of the blues to join the KYANA Blues Society. Dues are $5.00 per member. With your membership, you'll receive the blues newsletter, discounts on some society-sponsored events and additional discount opportunities from area merchants. I'm excited about the blues in Louisville and Southern Indiana. Help us keep those blues a'comin'! Support the KYANA Blues Society.

Cordially,

Rocky Adcock-Amaretto

President
