The Louisville Chorus: "Celebrating 50 Years of Great Performances "

On Sunday, December 17, The Louisville Chorus will present "A Candlelight Christmas Celebration" in the Bomhard Theater at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. It will be the first of three concerts bearing the celebration theme and will start at 3 p.m.

"A Folk Song Celebration" is scheduled for Saturday, March 10, 1990, at 8 p.m. The third concert, "The Last Annual P.D.Q. Bach Celebration," happens on Sunday, April 1, 1990 at 3 p.m. These concerts will be presented in the Bomhard Theater as well.

Since its beginning in 1939 as a 28-member all-male choir, The Louisville Chorus has grown steadily to a 50-voice chorus showcasing both men and women singers. Richard Sowers is the music director and conductor.

The Louisville Chorus is dedicated to the premise that great music can be found in many kinds of musical styles ranging from requiem masses, English and Italian madrigals and oratories, to the vast variety of secular choral literature, including 20th century music, blues and jazz, musical comedy and popular standards.
