The Hollywood Song Jubilee, a contest for songwriters and vocalists, has been announced. In its fifth year, the Jubilee promises a top cash award of $1000 in addition to a place on their album and their TV video for the grand prize -- the "Golden Jubilee Award." The "Diamond Jubilee TV Award" (second prize) will have 14 winning songs done on two separate TV shows. The chosen songs will be produced and recorded in Hollywood by the Jubilee staff and a copy of the TV show will be sent to each writer whose song appears on the video. Third place -- the "Silver Jubilee Album Award" -- will go to 33 songs which will be done on separate LP albums.
Additionally, one male and one female will receive $100 each for their vocal ability. Entrants may sing any song they wish as only vocal ability will be judged.

The Louisville Area Songwriters' Cooperative's Songwriting Competition '89 will run from August 1 to September 1 this year. Plans call for this year's contest to have five separate categories. Winners in each category will have their songs professionally recorded and included on a two-song album. Additional prizes are planned. Detailed information will be included in our July edition.
