April Membership Meetings

Greg Walker, one-half of Louisville's sophisticated jazz duo, Walker & Kays, gave an excellent presentation on album production, music arrangement, and songwriting collaboration during our April 3rd meeting. Greg pointed out the two biggest complaints producers have with original tunes: incorrect musical form and lack of lyrical continuity. He demonstrated one aspect of music arranging by playing a familiar melody with various unfamiliar chord progressions. Greg concluded his talk with a plea to all songwriters to strongly consider collaboration; he feels a song can only be as strong as its weakest link. Thanks again, Greg!

The April 17 meeting was an interesting critique session, with active participation by the members. Time ran out before all the tapes were listened to, and we apologize to those members who were disappointed. We'll try to do better next time. (Guess I'll have to bring that oven timer again, huh, Prez? -- Editor.)
