MusiciansEmergency Relief Fund Annual Benefit Scheduled

Secretary, MERF

The Musicians Emergency Relief Fund will hold its annual Benefit Concert on Sunday, November 19, 1989, from 7 p.m. to midnight. One five-dollar donation admits patrons to all participating clubs to enjoy a tremendous array of Kentuckianas most talented entertainers donating their talents to this vital cause.

The participating clubs (subject to additons and/or changes) include: Splash, Flaherty's III, three stages at the Phoenix Hill Tavern, Caddy's (formerly Mardi Gras), The Rudyard Kipling Restaurant, the Toy Tiger, Uncle Pleasant's, Air Devils Inn, Stages (formerly Angel's) and the Do Drop Inn.

This entertainment extravaganza offers music fans a great opportunity to see and hear many of their favorite groups in one evening at a bargain price. Blues, Country, Hot 100, Oldies, Alternative and other styles of original and cover acts will all be a part of this showcase of entertainment. A different act will appear each hour on each stage, for a total of at least sixty-five acts participating.

MERF, incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1982, has provided limited, but immediate, emergency funds to area music professionals and their families in times of crisis. Awards are determined and made on the basis of genuine need, by a four-person board of directors.

MERF was named the "Best Community Service Program" at the June 1989 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Intemational Music and Sound Expo in Chicago.
