"Run For the Royalties" Seminar Scheduled

The second annual L.A.S.C Seminar / Trade Show / Awards Banquet / Showcase is scheduled for November 18, 1989. The theme for this year's Seminar is "Run For the Royalties," in keeping with the spirit of the city. The Seminar promises to be bigger and better than last year's very successful "This Business Of Music."

The Seminar will be held at the Hurstbourne Hotel and Conference Center, 9700 Bluegrass Parkway, the site of last year's meeting. The activities will be moved to the larger Conference Center adjacent to the rear of the hotel, where there are larger and more meeting rooms.

Prices for the "Run For the Royalties" are only five dollars more than last year's. Advance tickets may be ordered beginning immediately and there is a special room rate if you would like to stay over. Look for the order form elsewhere in this issue.

The lineups for the panelists are not yet confirmed, so look in the next issue for that. We anticipate that we will have many publishers' representatives, as well as other music business figures, including representatives from the performing rights organizations.

The winners of the Songwriting Competition '89 will be announced at the Awards Banquet. This includes the category winners as well as the Grand Prize winner. The Co-op has also lined up a number of great prizes to be given away at the Banquet, including the Yamaha 4-track, the Les Paul Epiphone guitar (for which you must be present and have entered the contest to be eligible), a $250 hot air balloon ride, a silk Gibson road jacket, plus more! There'll be a lot to see, hear and do at the "Run For the Royalties," so sign up today! And don't forget to bring those demos (with lyric sheets) to pitch!
