Attention Rockers: Get Your Videos on the Air!

"It's time that Louisville had its own version of MTV," says Shaun E. Lynch, host of Louisville on the Rocks, a new rock music program airing on Cable Channel 11.

The show airs on Thursdays at 4 p.m. and is mostly about working bar bands, although Lynch also shows videos by nationally known acts. The format, which is still developing, includes interviews with musicians, videotapes of live performances, and videos.

Lynch, who plays guitar with the local group Persistent Felon, feels that his program serves the local music scene in a number of ways. Rock fans, who are often underage and can't go to see groups in bars, can watch favorite bands on the show. The program also provides an outlet for locally produced videos.

Lynch says that 80 percent to 90 percent of the programming will be local talent. Band videos are welcome, as long as the quality is good.

Lynch has also scheduled a drawing on Thursday, December 20, when he will give away tapes and CDs that have been given to him by various bands. To enter, write your name, address and a phone number where you can be reached on a post card and mail it to:

Louisville on the Rocks, P. O. Box 906164, Louisville, KY 40209-6164.

The program also has a Musician's Mailbox, where musicians looking for other musicians can advertise. Write to the same address for more information.
