Stanley Jordan Trio

Jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan and his trio will be at the Phoenix Hill Tavern on Thursday, July 19, for two Shows.

The Stanley Jordan Trio is touring in support of a new release on Bluenote Records. In addition to Jordan on guitar, the trio is Charnett Moffett on bass and Tommy Campbell on drums.

The two shows will be at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Tickets are $16.50 for guaranteed seats and $13.50 for standing room only and are available at Ear X-tacy Records, Four Seasons Records, the Phoenix Hill Tavern, Kentucky Center for the Arts and all Ticketron locations.

British Reggae?
IRS Records' Pasta Benton Set for Phoenix Hill Show

Britain is a long way from Jamaica, but plainly music knows no artificial boundaries. Pato Banton, a British reggae act on IRS Records, will bring their brand of the Caribbean music to the Phoenix Hill on Wednesday, July 11, at 9 p.m. Peter Spence will open.

The show will be broadcast live on WLRS 102. Tickets are $5 in advance. $6 day of show and are available at Ear X-tacy, Four Seasons Records and Phoenix Hill Tavern.

Brave Combo

Brave Combo, the Denton, Texas-based polka/alternative band that caused such excitement at the Lonesome Pine Specials last year, will be appearing at Uncle Pleasant's, 2126 S. Preston, on Thursday, July 26.

The Rounder Records artists have been making a splash on the folk alternative circuit for some time, with appearances on such shows as National Public Radio's Mountain Stage.

Jan Marra Concert to Benefit Amnesty International

Folk musician Jan Marra will headline a bill that includes local groups Up Your Sleeve and Something Big. Proceeds from the concert will go to benefit the locale chapter of Amnesty International, the London, England-based political rights organization.
