The U.S. Copyright Office has asked Congress to pass legislation to double the application fees. Presently at $10, the fee would go to $20.

Over 600,000 copyright applications are filed each year.

While there hasn't been much publicity on the matter in the last few weeks, it's possible that if passed, the measure will be implemented quickly.

If you've been planning on registering any of your works, good advice would be to file before any fee increase takes effect.
