Akiko Suwanai, the eighteen year-old violinist who won top honors in violin at the prestigious Tchaikovsky competition last summer in Moscow, will make her United States debut at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, performing Friday, October 26 as soloist with The Japan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Ken-ichiro Kobayashi conducting. The concert, which is the opening event of the 1990-91 Bingham Endowed Series, will take place in Whitney Hall at 8:00 p.m.
Miss Suwanai will be the soloist for Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto. The evening's program will also include Mahler's Fifth Symphony.
