Songwriter Opportunities

The Muscle Shoals Music Association in conjunction with The Alabama Music Hall of Fame presents Country Songwriters Seminar on July 20-21 at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, Highway 72 West, Tuscumbia, Alabama.

The list of faculty members for the two-day event is quite an impressive one. Cost is $100 per person, and includes informative panels and lectures, informal discussions, social time and a showcase featuring top writers performing the hits the way they wrote them. Attenders will be able to play their material for respected members of the music business and get an honest evaluation.

Windwalker Recording Song Competition. Entries will be reviewed by the Windwalker Recording staff, and ten finalists from each of four categories (country, pop/rock, gospel, rhythm & blues) will be chosen. The ten finalists songs will be compiled onto a master tape and sent to a panel of industry professionals for judging. Four winners, one from each category, will be chosen. Contest deadline is October 31, 1991. Entries received by July 31, 1991, will receive a $20 savings coupon good towards studio time at Windwalker Recording or towards any song demo package that they offer.

NSAI Summer Seminar offers "five exciting events" this year, its eleventh one: "Super Songwriters Performing In the Round," "Song Evaluations By Publisher," "Co-Write A Song With A Hit Songwriter," "Copyright Information for Co-Writers" and "Saturday Night Special." The dates are Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20. An impressive lineup of industry pros will be on hand, including publishers and song evaluators from several of the most prestigious companies. Group leaders will include writers of such hit songs as "Face In the Crowd," "Mama Knows," "Don't Take Me Half the Way," "He's Got You," "I'll Be True to You," "Trainwreck of Emotion" and "He Walked On Water."
