SMILE ... You're on Contest Camera

Do you enjoy taking photographs of musical happenings in and around Louisville? If so, you may be interested in a new feature that we are introducing in this issue of Louisville Music News. We're starting with a photograph that was submitted by Letha Marshall. She didn't submit it for contest consideration as this is the first announcement of the contest. She has sent us some excellent photographs over the last year or so, and we thought it would be fun to start off with a photograph, rather than just talking about the contest.

Here's how Contest Camera will work:

Amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit photographs of music-related events to this newspaper to compete for a $10 prize. (Well, at least it'll buy a roll or two of film.)

Entries will be judged based on what we feel will appeal to our readers and how well we think they will translate to newsprint. Timeliness may sometimes be a factor in selection. Pictures should reach us by the 20th of the month for consideration for the upcoming month's issue.

Be sure to indicate plainly, on the back of the photograph, the name, address and phone number of the photographer; the event or occasion; the date; and the identities of all persons in the photograph (unless they are not significant or should properly be identified as unidentified fan, spectator, etc.).

All entries will be retained by Louisville Music News unless a self-addressed, stamped (with adequate postage) envelope accompanies the photograph.

Consideration is being given to selecting a Photograph of the Year. Details will be forthcoming should this idea be adopted.

The decision of the judges (the publishers of Louisville Music News) will be final.

Entries should be mailed to:
