You Be the Judge(s) for the April Showcase

Once again, the Co-op is bringing a publisher to town to hear your songs on the April 4 showcase This year we have arranged for Meredith Stuart, owner of Music Business Music, to come hear what we have.

Ms. Stuart has been in the business since 1970 and has some pretty good credentials, as Charlie Walls would say. Besides ten years experience with Loretta Lynn, she worked for ABC Dunhill for three years and for MTM (Mary Tyler Moore) publishing, where she was instrumental in bringing Foster and Lloyd, Beth Neilson Chapman, and Larry Boone to the company.

So now we have to pick the songs she'll get to hear.

How are we going to do that?

Guess what? — "We" is you the members and we the members are going to do the picking, at a meeting specifically the March 2 1992 meeting.

Read these rules and procedures carefully

1. A maximum of three songs per member or member writing team may be submitted, with one song on a tape. The better the song and the production, the better your chances Songs must be written by LASC members.

2. You may have a non-member perform your song(s). The writer is responsible for performing or for finding a performer for his/her/their material.

Please indicate the name of the performer for each song.

3. All tapes for the April showcase must be in the hands ot a board member or the Showcase Committee by 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 1992.

4. Selection of songs will be made by the membership at the March 2, 1992, membership meeting at the the Musician's Union at 1436 Bardstown Rd. One, two, or three song(s) may be chosen from each writer or writing team.

The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m., rather than 7:30 p.m. Don 't be late.

It would be to your advantage to have enough lyric sheets for the members. That means 25 or 30 lyric sheets per song.

5. Tapes are non-returnable.

6. In order for the judging to be fair, only those people who can judge all the songs will be permitted to turn in a ballot.

Any questions may be directed to Board members.
