Lexington's Kentucky Theater to Host The Kentucky Concert Series

Lucinda Williams, Richie Havens, Leo Kottke, John Sebastian, Jim Messina and Arlo Guthrie set to Perform

The folks who help Lexington singer/songwriter Michael Johnathon with his Troubadour Project decided that Central Kentucky needed more singer/songwriter shows, so they arranged to hire the recently restored, historic Kentucky Theater and proceeded to book a series of shows featuring well-known national songwriting performers.

The series will feature six shows, beginning with the sold-out Lucinda Williams and Michael Johnathon show on March 31. Rhino recording artist Richie Havens will appear on April 21, with a $12.50 ticket. The May 26 program will bring twelve-string guitar whiz Leo Kottke to town, for $14.

Former Lovin' Spoonful leader John Sebastian will play his old Spoonful hits, movie and TV tunes and some new material on June 16. Admission to that show will be $12.50.

Jim Messina, Capitol Records artist, will have a wide selection of tunes to choose from, ranging from his Buffalo Springfield days to Poco and on to Loggins and Messina. His show will cost a mere $12.50.

Later, you will find that "you can get anything you want" with folk hero Arlo Guthrie in town for only $14.

Also in the works are shows by Tori Amos, Roger McGuinn and Donovan.

On September 22, a concert described as "The Great Kentucky Date Night," featuring the best regional artists, will be staged. The ticket price is $10.00.

Show times will be 8 p.m. For information, call 606-231-6997.
