Renfro Valley Announces Stellar '93 Concert Series

Patty Loveless is back on the concert trail following successful vocal chord surgery, and she's coming to Renfro Valley on April 18 to open their '93 concert series.

The monthly concerts will continue through November with appearances by country-music favorites Steve Wariner (May 16), Collin Raye (June 6) and Ronnie McDowell (July 4).

Country legend Don Williams brings his mellow voice to the Valley on August 15.

On tap for September 19 is an outdoor mega-concert featuring several of country music's hottest stars. The names of three or four of these performers will soon be announced.

A superstar is promised for October 17, and zillion-hits artist Conway Twitty will say "Hello Darlin'" to the Renfro Valley audience on November 14.

Tickets for all of the 1993 concerts are on sale now. For reservations, phone the Renfro Valley ticket office at (606) 256-2638. Each artist will perform two concerts, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Show time for the September outdoor concert will be announced soon. Ticket prices vary and are available at the Renfro Valley ticket office.

"With stars of this magnitude, tickets will sell quickly," cautions Renfro Valley Executive Vice President Dean Henricksen. "My advice to fans is to book early."

In addition to the concert series, Renfro Valley will feature other special events, including an Easter egg hunt and a special Easter Jubilee on April 10.

And there'll be a western rodeo, a craft festival with a street rodders car show, and the Mountain Dew Mountain Music Festival.

The Old Joe Clark Bluegrass Festival promises music by such familiar names as the Nashville Bluegrass Band, Raymond Fairchild, the Osborne Brothers, Jim & Jesse, the Boys from Indiana, Wild & Blue, the Lewis Family, Traditional Grass, the New Coon Creek Girls, the Larry Stephenson Band, Randall Hylton and the Dell McCoury Band. That happens on the festival grounds July 1, 2 and 3.

The All Night Gospel Sing on August 7 features Jeff & Sheri Easter, Karen Peck and New River, the McGruders, Dixie Melody Boys, Family Reunion and the Jubilee Echoes.

Renfro Valley's Talent Contest happens on August 21 and bluegrass returns on September 3, 4 and 5 for the Renfro Valley Bluegrass Festival.

The Chuckwagon Gang and J.D. Sumner & the Stamps will entertain during the Gospel Quartet Weekend, October 16-17; the 11th Annual Fiddlers Festival takes over the Old Barn November 5-6.

The holiday season in Renfro Valley officially opens on November 26. "Christmas in the Valley," a special Christmas show, will run on Friday and Saturday nights from November 26 through December 18.
