Set an Extra Place. . .

Just in Case

By Jean Metcalfe

"Please join us for an evening of music, fun and food fit for the King!"

That invitation comes from Hawley-Cooke Booksellers, who will be hosting the observance of the 58th birthday of the late Elvis Presley on Friday, January 8 (the King's actual birth date), at their Gardiner Lane location.

The Elvis Birthday Dinner will actually be two dinners, with reserved seating from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m.

At 5:30 and 7:00 Elvis impressionist Tim Root and his a cappella group will serenade the partygoers with classic Elvis tunes. At 5:45 and 7:15 a dinner of "Elvis' favorites" will be served, with banana pudding for dessert.

After author Alanna Nash, an Elvis expert, reads from and discusses her book about The King, Elvis trivia question-and-answer sheets will be distributed. They will be collected at the end of the evening and a door prize will be awarded in a random drawing.

WRKA Radio deejay John "The Elvis Voice" Ramsey will emcee the festivities and participants are invited to bring along Elvis memorabilia for show and tell.

Dinner reservations may be made by calling (502) 895-6789, Monday through Friday, 9 to 5, no later than January 6. Guests are cautioned to arrive early to purchase a reserved ticket ($5.50 per) in the Hawley-Cooke Cafe.
