Songwriter Opportunities

Austin (Texas) Songwriters Group presents its 4th annual Song Competition at Steamboat Springs on Saturday, December 4, 1993. A songwriting seminar will be given by Dave Powell from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and an awards ceremony will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Cash prizes will be given in four categories (country, rock, pop and rap/blues/reggae/jazz) for first ($300 cash, plus five hours of studio time), second ($150) and third ($75) place. Judging will be done by industry professionals. You need not be present to win. Entries must be received by November 13, 1993. The 1993 Network of Lyricists and Songwriters Songwriting & Lyric Writing Contest offers a $1,000 grand prize, with 15 different categories. Deadline for receipt of entries is November 30, 1993. Crooked House Records, P.O. Box 51027, Royal Square P.O., New Westminster, B.C., Canada, V3L5P6, is sponsoring a contest with six categories. Grand prize winners (3) will have their songs recorded by an award-winning group of musicians which will be distributed throughout the world for radio airplay. All three songwriters will be offered a publishing contract by Crooked House Publishing and receive CD copies of their songs. Contest deadline for entries is November 30, 1993 and winners will be contacted by registered mail or bytelephone on or before January 15, 1994. Entry blanks are available from the above- mentioned address.

Nebo Record Company, P.O. Box 194, New Hope, AL 35760, is looking for several female singers for its record label in modern country, traditional country, gospel and other music areas. They are also looking for hit songs for songs for female singers on their label.

Demo tapes and other items sent cannot be returned. Every song will be reviewed, as time permits.
