Derby Dinner Celebrates 20th Season

What do you give for a 20th anniversary?

If it's a married couple you're honoring, the traditional gift is china.

Thank goodness Derby Dinner Playhouse is not a married couple. Imagine the cost of a complete set!

To celebrate their 20th Anniversary Season, the folks at the popular Clarksville, Ind., dinner theater have a gift for you:

An all-musical lineup that includes four shows "brought back by popular demand," four shows new to DDP audiences, and a world premiere.

"Once again, our audiences picked our season. Eight of these shows were the top vote-getters during our extensive audience-survey campaign," said producer Bekki Jo Schneider. "They also voted heavily in favor of our doing another new musical.

The new season began April 26 with "Singin' in the Rain" and will run through March 21, 1995, with "Good News."

Brought back by popular demand are "A Chorus Line," followed by "Singin' in the Rain" (the top vote-getter), "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Fiddler on the Roof."

The four Broadway biggies are "George M!" "They're Playing Our Song," "Good News," and Nunsense II — The Second Coming."

The premiere musical comedy will be "Halfway to Heaven," inspired by the film comedy "Meet John Doe."

Derby Dinner is offering two season ticket packages: The Critic's Choice package (all nine shows for the price of seven) and The Mini-Series (six shows for the price of five).
