Upcoming
Meetings

By Paul Moffett

May 2. The first meeting of the month will feature an entertainment attorney, Susan E. Schneider, of Maple and Associates. She will present her "Top Ten Music Attorney Tips." Ms. Schneider teaches a course in the music industry at Bellarmine College. There will also be song critiques, provided there is sufficient time.

May 16. The second meeting will have Michael Boehnlein continuing his series of workshops on songwriting techniques and tips. A Songwriter Circle (guitar pull) will follow after the meeting. Bring your instrument.

Songwriters having tunes critiqued at the April 4 meeting included Matt Bessen, Mark Gibbs, Charles Farmer, Paul Moffett, Jack Roberts and Ed O'Connor.

The April 18 meeting was well-attended. Steve Eng, a Nashville author and songwriter, was present. He performed during the Songwriter Circle, playing his parody, "He Stopped Songwriting Today," a tune Bill Ede has been performing around town for years. Ten songwriters participated in the guitar pull, and that is good news and bad news. First the bad news: Each participant got to do only a couple of songs. The good news: That's a lot of good songs to enjoy by a nice variety of songwriters. The good news outweighs the bad.
