Local Releases and an Album Party

The Mudcat Blues Band and the Kelly Richey Band had a joint album release party at the Backstage Cafe at Coyote's on April 20. So many musicians, agency folk and media people were in attendance that it looked more like a music business conference than a bar. Above left, Nick Stump of the Metropolitan Blues All-Stars sat in on lap steel with the Mudcats, while harmonica wiz Jim Rosen listened. Above right, Rosen blew harp with Kelly Richey, whose dazzlingly quick guitar work once inspired Lonnie Mack to describe her as 'Stevie Ray Vaughan reincarnated in a woman's body.'
