Congratulations to former LASCer Susie Wood and spouse Bill Smith on the arrival of their second child on September 26, a girl, Rachel Elizabeth.

Former LASCers Paula and Tom Van Meter have for some time been booking talent at the Royal Inn Lounge, 4444 Dixie Hwy. One of the events is a Showcase of Talent on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.

According to their "Party Time" newsletter, "The whole purpose of the showcase is to provide the opportunity for people to put together their own show, bring friends and family and entertain with their own unique style and personality."

Paula and Tom encourage anyone who is interested in performing on a showcase to come by and talk with them at the Royal Inn Lounge on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Talented new member David Cole of Bedford, Ind., has some interesting projects in the works. One that has been firmed up at this writing is a singer/songwriter concert in Bloomington, Ind. The date is Friday, December 2, 8 p.m., in the Rose Fire Bay room, Waldron Arts Center.

Those who attended the October 17 membership meeting heard a rough mix of one of the cuts on a demo tape that Dave is planning to shop to artists when it is completed early in November.

I especially like Dave's "W.F." and "Boy From the Burbs," both of which landed in the top ten in the folk category of our recent songwriting contest.

Two other LASC newcomers, Grace Delligatti and Paul Dell Aquila who comprise the duo Another Colour, are gigging around town. They, too, are very talented and you owe it to yourself to catch one of their performances. Check out the LMN calendar and/or ask them where they're scheduled to perform. And, also, too, they've got a song in the finals in our recent contest.

Both David Cole and Another Colour will perform brief sets at our Songwriting Competition '94 Awards Banquet on November 12 at the Holiday Inn Downtown. I have enjoyed hearing them, albeit briefly, a couple of times and I'm looking forward to hearing them again that evening.

Tell us what you've been doing and we'll pass it on via this column. Drop us a note: Newsical Notes, LASC, P.O. Box 16, Pewee Valley, KY 40056.
