Rachel's

By Duncan Barlow

Many people downplay the abilities of this group because they feel that rock musicians could not possibly play classical fusion well. I disagree. This group tests the boundaries of indie rock's claim to acceptance.

With moody melodies which evoke a somber feeling in the merriest of hearts, Rachel's gives their listeners a seven-piece instruction to emotion. Most of these recordings date back before Rodan was an indie rock icon, so naturally the group has progressed significantly.

With a seventeen member credit list which includes most ofthe group's closest friends, it is nearly impossible for this unit to go wrong. Typically in Louisville if you hear bad talk about Rachel's it is simply due to jealousy.

Perhaps a classical student would be more critical of the group, but this rocker gives it four stars and two thumbs in the vertical direction.
