Max Bragado-Darman

New Orchestra Music Director

The Board of Directors of the Louisville Orchestra announced on May 20 that Max Bragado-Darman is the orchestra's new music director. The Board also has received Uriel Segal's acceptance to become the orchestra's principal guest conductor.

Maestro Bragado-Darman was also the enthusiastic choice of the orchestra's players. Carole Birkhead, chair person of the fourteen-person search committee, had this to say:

"The role of music director goes beyond what we see on the podium. The search committee was looking for a person of artistic vision who would become part of our community and shape the Louisville Orchestra in such a way as to maintain its vitality as we prepare for the next millennium."

Widely acclaimed by discerning critics in both his native Spain and this country, the new music director will add to our city's already considerable musical reputation.
