Chinese Burn (Universal Records)
Curve

By Brent Starkey

Eight songs. But six are remixes of the same tune. Don't get me wrong, I despise techno-Muzak . . . but "Chinese Burn Flood Mix ( album version ) " spoken / sung by Toni Halliday in her breathy, sex-laden voice is pretty damn good. It's beats-heavy, nearly industrial dance music with cool lyrics. The other five versions (especially the nearly eleven-minute "Chinese Burn Paul Van Dyk Forbidden City Remix") are techno-ed out pieces of crap and a total waste of time, unless you happen to be high on Ecstacy at the local Rave. The real treat is the final song "Come Clean," which should be the single anyway. In fact, this would have made a pretty decent 2-song single. Skip the filler.
