Jim Brickman & Donny Osmond to Ring in Holiday at Palace Theatre Dec. 1

By Michael W. Stout

If you and your special someone are looking for a romantic evening to ring in this holiday season, then you won't want to miss the award-winning pianist Jim Brickman's "Holiday Tour 2000" featuring special guest star Donny Osmond at Louisville's historic Palace Theatre on Friday, December. 1. Brickman will offer holiday selections from his 1997 gold album The Gift, as well as smash hits such as "Valentine" and "Your Love," sung by good friend Osmond.

In a recent interview with Louisville Music News, Brickman promised that this show will be nothing short of entertaining. He assured, "It is not a piano recital, I can tell you that. It is a lot of fun—we have such a blast! It's a combination of holiday music and some of the hit songs, but chiefly it's about entertainment. It's about giving people that wonderful experience at this time of the year to just enjoy the holiday season and celebrate the great music of the holidays." Brickman continued, "Especially Christmas time, people have a good time. You're in holiday season mode, you want to laugh, you want to escape from all the stresses of the holiday season, and you want to have a good time. You want to leave the theater smiling—it's not the time for the serious, serious moody stuff, I don't think. It's a time of celebration and [Donny and I] hope that's what we bring to the theatrical experience."

When asked about his guest vocalist, Brickman praised Osmond by saying, "He's such a wonderful singer; I really let him fly with [the vocals]. He and I have such a connection musically that I can't really describe. He's such a consummate performer and such a great singer. He's just such a strong entertainer and we connect on so many different levels—he's such a good person and such a good friend. We have a really strong rapport and friendship that I think really exists, not only personally, but also on the stage."

Jim Brickman and Donny Osmond's performance will begin at 8 pm Friday, December 1 at the Louisville Palace Theatre at 625 S. Fourth St.
