News From the Pit
By Eddy Metal

Hey, freaks and such.

It's a dire time in the Louisville metal scene, my hardcore brethren. We have lost another venue for bands to play at, and a good one at that. The Crunchzone has lost their liquor license and most likely will be totally closed soon.

This sucks. That place has some history in the Louisville music scene! First starting out many years ago as Uncle Pleasant's, then Flashback's, then the Crunchzone. The scene has had excellent shows there!

It's a good venue but I've noticed it has never been promoted properly in all the years it's been around. "The crowd has to know about the place to come" is a true statement.

Bands hardly have any places left to play, and the places that we still have are hard to get into, because so many bands are trying to get shows from them. Believe me, I know! The scene needs to find some ultra-cool, possibly older hip person with some serious cash to put down on a nice venue. And if it is run correctly, properly promoted and managed, then it could be very successful. If not, of course, it will fail.

In the past I have sought places to have shows that ordinarily wouldn't have metal bands and it turned out to be pretty cool. So if you want to help the scene, please try to get us a venue or two. We need it badly.

Props Of The Month

This month's props go out to three people who have supported the scene for a short time now. They may be new to the scene but they have done a decent job supporting the cause. Becca Bullock and Annie Hamilton and their friends have started a local music 'zine called The Core Report, which features band and CD reviews, showdates and stuff of that nature. I haven't personally seen a copy yet, but I hear that they are on the right track. Hopefully the `zine will be distributed a little better in the near future.

James Spaulding also gets props for the compilation CD mentioned above. From what I understand, he pretty much coordinated everything. Good job, James.

Remember, folks. If you don't send me your showdates or info, they won't be printed!
