Celtic Brew with Your Morning Java

There is a welcome addition on the radio for you early birds. Tune into "Celtic Brew" on WFPK (91.9 FM) at 7 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Colin Cordy, a newcomer to Louisville, has a show featuring traditional and Celtic music.

Update on Robin Loeffler

Robin asked me to thank all the bands who participated and the folks who attended the benefit concert for her. She is unable to write or email, due to the effects of the stroke on her right hand and so I am serving as her scribe to express her appreciation. While she can't respond to emails, she still loves hearing from her friends and fans, so don't hesitate to send her a message at tenpennybit@cs.com. The good news is that Ten Penny Bit continues to make music - while Robin is unable to play, she is singing with the band and the band is back performing.

You've Got Your Marching Orders

On February 11, the Pipes and Drums of the Scots Highlanders will be accompanying the Grenadier Guards at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Whitney Hall at 7 p.m. The Grenadier Guards were formed in Flanders in 1656 and the 49 member band still plays at all state and public functions of the British Royal Family.

The Highlanders trace their ancestry back to 1778 when regiments were raised in the Highlands of Scotland, first to counter the crisis in the American Colonies and secondly to meet the threat of Revolutionary France. The Regiment recruits from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and jealously guards its proud history and Highland connections. The Pipes and Drums have performed worldwide as the showpiece of the Regiment. They toured in Italy, Canada, the United States, Africa, India, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand. In addition, they compete as individuals at world class piping and drumming competitions and as a band at the Scottish, British, European and World Pipe Band Championships. Each year they participate in numerous public events including the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Here's an opportunity you won't want to miss!
