A Compilation Worthy of Praise

Love Outside the Lines (Independent)
The Music of Paul Turner

By Kory Wilcoxson

Talk about ecumenical diversity! Not many CDs, Christian or otherwise, can boast as wide a range of believers as the compilation Love Outside the Lines . Baptists, Catholics, Assemblies of God, and Messianic Jews as just some of the beliefs systems represented here, all coming together to sing their praises to God with passion and joy.

The project is the brainchild of Louisville singer/songwriter Paul Turner, who wrote and produced all 19 tracks on the album. Turner, who's spent more than 30 years in the Christian music industry, has assembled a group of songs and artists that embody the inclusive theme of the title song.

In total, more than 50 local artists contributed to Lines , which not only gives the album flavor but makes each of Turner's songs a unique creation. Jennifer Brown's simple, elegant "Living in Me" is a great contrast to Mark and Max Maxwell's rocking "Learn to Surrender." Christian music fans of all genres will find something to like on "Lines," from rock to gospel to Latin.

The thread that holds all the songs together is the way Turner's profound, deep faith shines through each one. His spirituality is humble and inspiring and makes each track on Lines a worthy offering to God.
