An Auspicious Debut
Audey Ratliff, who has enriched bluegrass music with his finely crafted mandolins, has released his first solo album, Piece of Cake. Produced by James Alan Shelton (lead guitar for Ralph Stanley), the project showcases Ratliff 's vocals and mandolin chops.
Backing him are Shelton on lead guitar, bass, vocals and banjo, and Savannah Vaughn on fiddle and vocals. It's not hard core grass with a lot of flash. Rather, it presents a more gentle relaxing side of bluegrass. A pleasant listening experience.
